Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do you supervise your caregivers?
A: ACC nurses monitor caregiver performance through unannounced site visits to clients’ homes. Caregiver arrangements are routinely re-evaluated every 30-60 days.

Q: Can I trust the caregiver ACC sends?
A: We understand you wouldn’t invite just anyone into your home and private life. Our rigorous application process includes reference, criminal background and driving record checks, along with an exam to test candidates’ skills and English proficiency. Most of our caregivers are certified nurse aides (CNAs); many are also certified memory impairment specialists.

Q: How much do your services cost?
A: Our hourly rate for assistance with daily activities is $18.50 per hour. We also offer live-in rates for short- and long-term situations. Because every family’s situation is different, ACC will work with you to create a care plan that suits your specific needs and your budget.

Q: Is there a minimum commitment or payment?
A: Yes, we require a minimum of four consecutive hours on any given day, with a minimum of eight hours per week. Although shorter hours are available for additional charges, most families find the four-hour shift is just right for their needs.

Q: Do you have staff on call for emergencies?
A: Yes! When the office is closed, an on-call coordinator is available at all times. Caregiver assistance is always readily available – regardless of whether you need help on a weekday or weekend.

Q: Do you provide live-in help?
A: Yes. We offer live-in care on both a short-term (two-week minimum) and long-term basis.

Q: Do you provide senior care respite?
A: Yes! We understand that most family caregivers need some personal time for refreshment and renewal – whether that means half a day at the mall, a short trip, or a vacation. Let ACC be your extended family. Our caregivers can fill in when you need time away.

Q: We are planning a visit to the Washington, DC area. Can you help us take care of a family member during our visit?
A: Yes. We would be pleased to help you enjoy your time in the DC area. We can provide services wherever you have made your accommodations. Please make your arrangements well in advance of your arrival.

Q: I am a medical professional. How can I refer clients to ACC?
A: Simply give us a call or contact us via the Contact Page of our Web site. One of our experienced coordinators will call you back to review your recommendation. Then we’ll contact the family directly. Once arrangements have been made, we’ll give you a courtesy follow-up call to confirm that your client is in good hands.

Q: How do you bill for services?
A: For your convenience, a single bi-weekly billing cycle relieves you from paying anyone but ACC. Visa and MasterCard payments are accepted.
